Hallways are always a challenge. Here are some ideas that are a sure way to add the illusion of space and make a small area more useful.

USE MIRRORS - Add one large mirror or a handful of small ones to the center of the hallway to expand your sight lines.

INCORPORATE STORAGE - Add a wall of cubbies, narrow in depth give the illusion of space and keep things neat and tidy.

PAINT THE WALLS - Paint the hallway a light color to keep it feeling open and bright.

ADD CONTRAST WITH COLOR - Add a focal point at the end of the hallway & choose a color with tones that complement the wall and add a layer of depth to your design.

INCORPORATE MOLDINGS - Either on the ceiling, the baseboard, or add some grid patterns and paint the same color as the wall to give some texture.

WALLPAPER - In a small space a light colored or textured wallpaper can create an illusion of depth without creating bulk.

20 Years since I got my BFA degree in Interior Des

20 Years since I got my BFA degree in Interior Design from Design Institute of San Diego! This small town country girl moved to San Diego to pursue her dreams in interior design. Wow, the BIG city... 8 lane freeways, traffic and super tall buildings. I remember all the late nights and all nighters gluing fabric samples and cutting foam core. It was a great place to learn and grow into a well prepared professional. I then worked for a large SD Architecture firm as a job captain in corporate design. Its funny, I had no idea what I was getting into starting school... drafting? materials? building codes? ... it was so much work! But I did it.... and I'm still doing it.... Because with design the education never stops!!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
